Ivan Appleby made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calum Buckley in the 12th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Steve Ellwood during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Yarmouth United's Steve Ellwood got a free kick in the 13th minute. Calum Buckley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Ivan Appleby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Calum Buckley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronnie McKinnon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Steve Ellwood in the 25th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Leven's zone, Sid Davison stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronnie McKinnon came out of the goal and Sid Davison tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 31 minutes into the game, Andy Addison cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ronnie McKinnon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ivan Appleby stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rob McGillegowie's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. With a little luck, Yarmouth United's Ivan Appleby got control of the ball when Calum Buckley tried to sneak it across the goal line. Calum Buckley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute Rob McGillegowie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Appleby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Yarmouth United were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Addison to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Rob McGillegowie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leven's supporters rose to their feet, but Rob McGillegowie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ivan Appleby breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rob McGillegowie in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Appleby saved Yarmouth United from getting behind. Calum Buckley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Appleby having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Yarmouth United's goal looked a bit too open when Rob McGillegowie came free, but Ivan Appleby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronnie McKinnon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andy Addison in the 70th minute of the match. Yarmouth United's Ivan Appleby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calum Buckley in the 76th minute of play. After 77 played minutes Leven got a freekick which was hit by Aidan Cargill. Leven's Rob McGillegowie got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 83rd minute Calum Buckley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivan Appleby saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Steve Ellwood could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Ronnie McKinnon made a huge save. In the 89th minute Sid Davison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie McKinnon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Barry McCarter kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Ryan Philipson didn't quite understand what happened when in the 93 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. When Leven's Rob McGillegowie in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Yarmouth United's goalie prevented a goal. Yarmouth United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
