Dunoon Park
Spectators: 6789 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1789, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Rob McGillegowie started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the game, Timothy Gowan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leven's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dunoon the free kick. In the 3rd minute, Timothy Gowan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Murray McCansh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 7 minutes of play, Leven's Rob McGillegowie made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Charles Boyd was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Murray McCansh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Charles Boyd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calum Buckley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Dunoon's Murray McCansh in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Leven's goalie prevented a goal. Charles Boyd came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Leven's Rob McGillegowie. But to his dismay, Rob McGillegowie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 28th minute Murray McCansh shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie McKinnon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rob McGillegowie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 32 minutes, Ron McWhannell mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leven and the Dunoon players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ron McWhannell kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Leven's Ronnie McKinnon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murray McCansh in the 34th minute of play. Jacob Suttie struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Ronnie McKinnon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dunoon. Ronnie McKinnon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murray McCansh in the 47th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Murray McCansh stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Murray McCansh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Ronnie McKinnon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calum Buckley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Murray McCansh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronnie McKinnon having to interfere. 63 minutes into the game, Jacob Suttie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Ronnie McKinnon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Matt Risk fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dunoon's protests and gave Matt Risk a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Calum Buckley got free with Charles Boyd in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 72 played minutes, Dunoon's Euan McGillivray shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ronnie McKinnon came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dunoon reached it. In the 79th minute, Stuart Bell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Rob McGillegowie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Murray McCansh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Charles Boyd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rob McGillegowie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murray McCansh in the 93rd minute of play forced Leven's goalkeeper Ronnie McKinnon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Murray McCansh in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronnie McKinnon saved Leven from getting behind. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
