Spectators: 6848 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1848, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Gus Aspin started the match with the kick off. When Angus Swanson came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Mauchline fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angus Swanson couldn't finish the play. Gus Aspin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Edward Archibald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 played minutes Mauchline got a freekick which was hit by Nicky McKindlay. In the 28th minute, Mauchline's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Fraser McGeachie fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Angus Swanson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivan Grewar was the one to do the kick off. Angus Swanson might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ronnie Clement. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Angus Swanson ran back to his position shaking his head. Gus Aspin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Gus Aspin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute, Fraser McGeachie left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The rangers team fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in rangers team's zone, Angus Swanson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronnie Clement came out of the goal and Angus Swanson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Angus Swanson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nicky McKindlay got his second yellow card in the match during the 74th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Nicky McKindlay kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Angus Swanson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 78 played minutes rangers team got a freekick which was hit by Drew Williamson. Angus Swanson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Ronnie Clement tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Angus Swanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Grewar in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ronnie Clement prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 86 minutes into the match, Angus Swanson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ronnie Clement. rangers team's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Angus Swanson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Mauchline's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because rangers team had won, even though Mauchline had held more of the ball.
