Dundee United SCO's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Roddie Kerracher was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. 21 minutes into the game, Anthony Booth cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 51st minute, Charles McCaig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dean Greusach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Dundee United SCO's Davie Boon got control of the ball when Anthony Booth tried to sneak it across the goal line. Roddie Kerracher struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Davie Boon didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inverurie Locos. In the 86th minute, Roddie Kerracher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute, Walter Rorison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 92 minutes, Amador Perpinya managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dundee United SCO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amador Perpinya was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Amador Perpinya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 95 played minutes Inverurie Locos got a freekick which was hit by Charles McCaig.
