After a rather tough play, St.Mirren's Dougal Porter got a free kick in the 5th minute. When Scott McMurdo fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored St.Mirren's protests and gave Scott McMurdo a yellow card for diving instead. Scott McMurdo hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 12th minute Douglas Burk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Wylie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cromarty's Malcolm Ingram played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stevie McAlonie in the 15th minute of play. Malcolm Ingram showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matthew Wilkie in the 18th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, St.Mirren's Stephen Barnfather got a free kick in the 22nd minute. In the 23rd minute of the match Adam McBeolain shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Walter Wylie showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A hard shot 25 in the game by Matthew Wilkie from a close distance when the talented Malcolm Ingram managed to make a qualified save. Cromarty's players were relieved. Conor McEarachar kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Matthew Wilkie's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 34thth minute, Malcolm Ingram skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. From close distance Matthew Wilkie pressed in the 1-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 34 minutes into the game. In the 41stth minute of the game Nick McIldowie who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but St.Mirren's Walter Wylie was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Stevie McAlonie came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the St.Mirren fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stevie McAlonie couldn't finish the play. Walter Wylie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Burk in the 45th minute of play. Stevie McAlonie kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Douglas Burk was the one to do the kick off. Ben Bowers's late challenge caught a St.Mirren's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ben Bowers helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cromarty getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Ben Bowers hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Connor McLardy got free with Walter Wylie in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 60th minute Matthew Wilkie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Ingram saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, St.Mirren's Walter Wylie got control of the ball when Nick McIldowie tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Cromarty defense, Matthew Wilkie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Malcolm Ingram. The Cromarty fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Malcolm Ingram should have stopped the shot. Walter Wylie made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Nick McIldowie sent off a good shot on target. Walter Wylie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas Burk in the 73rd minute of the match. Stephen Barnfather kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stevie McAlonie in the 82nd minute of play forced Cromarty's goalkeeper Malcolm Ingram to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 84th minute, Matthew Wilkie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Walter Wylie was out of position in the 88 minute of play, and Adam McBeolain capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Adam McBeolain really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Malcolm Ingram took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matthew Wilkie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Malcolm Ingram stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Matthew Wilkie's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Cromarty's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
