Adelino Zambujal was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sandro Pinto showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. When Marcelo Calheiros fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Abel Modesto charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abel Modesto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to OPORTO DRAGON getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sandro Pinto couldn't finish the play. Adelino Zambujal made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Noel Portugal sent off a good shot on target. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Marcelo Calheiros made the kick off in the second half. If Noel Portugal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adelino Zambujal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noel Portugal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Caio Soares fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Noel Portugal placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Sandro Pinto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adelino Zambujal having to interfere. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind OPORTO DRAGON's goalkeeper Adelino Zambujal, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Sandro Pinto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Academia Sporting's supporters rose to their feet, but Sandro Pinto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adelino Zambujal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jordão Menezes charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Noel Portugal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Adelino Zambujal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
