Gatoes FC's Simão Jesus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octávio Lobato in the 8th minute of play. Óscar Leão's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Simão Jesus read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. If Octávio Lobato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Óscar Leão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Hermenegildo Sesimbra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cotem's supporters rose to their feet, but Hermenegildo Sesimbra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Jesus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 18 played minutes Cotem got a freekick which was hit by Amadeu Cesário. The supporters of Cotem booed when Gatoes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artur Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Simão Jesus was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Filipe Tavares. Óscar Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Jesus having to interfere. Nicolas Portela took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armindo Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute, António Marques hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the game, Octávio Lobato recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Simão Jesus. Octávio Lobato showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The crowd rose to their feet as Cotem's Octávio Lobato slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Simão Jesus. That made the score 2-0 after 36 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Gatoes FC's zone, Óscar Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Jesus came out of the goal and Óscar Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Octávio Lobato managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cotem's supporters rose to their feet, but Octávio Lobato was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Jesus breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Óscar Leão struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Simão Jesus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cotem. Simão Jesus made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Octávio Lobato in the 47th minute of play. Filipe Neto kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Octávio Lobato made the kick off in the second half. If Alexandre Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Armindo Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Gatoes FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armindo Carneiro couldn't finish the play. Óscar Leão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Cotem booed when Gatoes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurício Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Óscar Leão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão Jesus having to interfere. Octávio Lobato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 82 minutes into the match, Gatoes FC's goal looked a bit too open when Óscar Leão came free, but Simão Jesus reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Octávio Lobato struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Simão Jesus didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cotem. Cotem's Óscar Leão got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Simão Jesus showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octávio Lobato, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. With a little luck, Cotem's Nicolas Portela got control of the ball when Armindo Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cotem's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
