After 51 minutes, Cássio Lages mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sport Terceira e Benfica and the SC Lazaro players grew even worse after the yellow card. SC Lazaro's Manuel Paiva pulled a muscle in his back after 69 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Samuel Marinho during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of SC Lazaro booed when Sport Terceira e Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in SC Lazaro's zone, Samuel Marinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After 81 minutes of play, Sport Terceira e Benfica's Samuel Marinho made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mariano Leite was left in no man's land by his defense there! Sport Terceira e Benfica's Lucílio Baía proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Terceira e Benfica from getting a goal against them. Samuel Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mariano Leite having to interfere. Sport Terceira e Benfica were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of SC Lazaro for a fine match.
