Rafael Leite's late challenge caught a Palaios FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 16thth minute of the game Noel Matias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Terceira e Benfica's Lucílio Baía was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Samuel Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eurico Figueiras having to interfere. Palmiro Cortez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Adolfo Álvares fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palaios FC's protests and gave Adolfo Álvares a yellow card for diving instead. Adolfo Álvares kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. Eurico Figueiras came out of the goal and Samuel Marinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34thth minute of the game Noel Matias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Terceira e Benfica's Lucílio Baía was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nélson Cavaco charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nélson Cavaco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Palaios FC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Nélson Cavaco hit a great ball. In the 38th minute Palmiro Cortez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eurico Figueiras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palaios FC's Adalberto Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Rúben Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 played minutes Sport Terceira e Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Graciano Ferro.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noel Matias was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, Noel Matias made a precise shot to the right of Lucílio Baía. Sport Terceira e Benfica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. After 58 minutes, Adalberto Leme mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palaios FC and the Sport Terceira e Benfica players grew even worse after the yellow card. Lucílio Baía took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rúben Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82ndth minute of the game Noel Matias who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Terceira e Benfica's Lucílio Baía was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Palmiro Cortez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rúben Miranda's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucílio Baía read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Noel Matias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Sport Terceira e Benfica getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Silvestre Novais hit a great ball. Palaios FC's Noel Matias got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
