When the match had gone on for 6 minutes, Marcus Wendel put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Rui Mota. Marcus Wendel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Rui Mota tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute of the match Mauro Antunes shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rui Mota showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Futebol Clube Belem's Mauro Antunes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Mota made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Futebol Clube Belem's Sálvio Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasco Lopes in the 23rd minute of play. After 30 minutes, Tarcísio Gentil mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sapos FC and the Futebol Clube Belem players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tarcísio Gentil kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Futebol Clube Belem's Sálvio Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasco Lopes in the 32nd minute of play. Futebol Clube Belem's Marcus Wendel got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Leonel Reynoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 38 minutes, Silvério Bernardes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sapos FC and the Futebol Clube Belem players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 41 minutes, Mauro Antunes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Futebol Clube Belem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Antunes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcus Wendel in the 44thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rui Mota, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Rui Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Marcus Wendel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcus Wendel to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcus Wendel in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rui Mota prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mauro Antunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rui Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Wendel in the 57th minute of play. If Paulo Laureano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Vasco Lopes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sapos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Sapos FC's zone, Marcus Wendel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rui Mota came out of the goal and Marcus Wendel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcus Wendel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasco Lopes got free with Sálvio Braga in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marcus Wendel in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rui Mota saved Sapos FC from getting behind. Rui Mota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcus Wendel, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Despite being the better team, Futebol Clube Belem failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
