Danny Waltham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Owen Kessler in the 12th minute. After 36 played minutes Thamesmead got a freekick which was hit by Stevie Nesbitt. Brian Hallam showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reuben Lowndes, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reuben Lowndes in the 43rd minute of play forced Ambleside's goalkeeper Brian Hallam to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robin Fawcett was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 47 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Thamesmead:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ambleside:s goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jack Beasley made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Jack Beasley left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ambleside fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Brian Hallam didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Stevie Nesbitt went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Stevie Nesbitt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Brian Hallam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After recieving a nice pass, Thamesmead's Fred Chiverton tried to score from far away in the 70th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Johnathan Salmon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brian Hallam having to interfere. Brian Hallam made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stevie Nesbitt in the 83rd minute. In the 86th minute, Stevie Nesbitt reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Brian Hallam . The goal made the score 4-3. 92 minutes into the match, Thamesmead's goal looked a bit too open when Owen Kessler came free, but Danny Waltham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Stevie Nesbitt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thamesmead's supporters rose to their feet, but Stevie Nesbitt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brian Hallam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Johnathan Salmon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brian Hallam having to make a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ambleside fans cheered their team off the field, for while Thamesmead had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
