Varðan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vakt Vogum the free kick. In the 17th minute, Arnbergur Aronsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Valbergur Bergmansson kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Vakt Vogum's Brimar Pálmarsson got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Vakt Vogum's Brimar Pálmarsson got a free kick in the 27th minute. Vatnar Andrésson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mekkinó Þráinson having to interfere. Mekkinó Þráinson was a little too slow when Brimar Pálmarsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 1-2. Arnbergur Aronsson hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. A collision led to Vakt Vogum getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Sigurmann Erlendsson hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Arthúr Hreiðarsson to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Brimar Pálmarsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vakt Vogum's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varðan the free kick. After a rather tough play, Vakt Vogum's Brimar Pálmarsson got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Mekkinó Þráinson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arthúr Hreiðarsson's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Brimar Pálmarsson struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Mekkinó Þráinson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vakt Vogum. Varðan were furious when Bessi Theódórsson was red carded, 61 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 62nd match minute, Varðan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bessi Theódórsson to maneuver through the defense. Valdór Aðalsteinsson's late challenge caught a Vakt Vogum's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdór Aðalsteinsson helped the player get up and apologised. Valdór Aðalsteinsson kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. After 68 played minutes Varðan got a freekick which was hit by Valdór Aðalsteinsson. Arthúr Hreiðarsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the match, Arthúr Hreiðarsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mekkinó Þráinson. Varðan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arthúr Hreiðarsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. With a little luck, Vakt Vogum's Höður Ketilsson got control of the ball when Úlfgeir Jónþórsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Arthúr Hreiðarsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mekkinó Þráinson having to interfere. If Úlfgeir Jónþórsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Klemens Orrason hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Vakt Vogum's Vatnar Andrésson got a free kick in the 95th minute. Despite being the better team, Vakt Vogum failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
