Antik Kópaskeri's Ormur Ingólfsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kjallakur Björgvinsson in the 16th minute of play. After 17 played minutes Antik Kópaskeri got a freekick which was hit by Ögmundur Kristinsson. 27 minutes into the match, Hlér Baldvinsson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Antik Kópaskeri's Ormur Ingólfsson. Ormur Ingólfsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Gimli Flúðum booed when Antik Kópaskeri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ögmundur Kristinsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kjallakur Björgvinsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ormur Ingólfsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Ormur Ingólfsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kjallakur Björgvinsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Kjallakur Björgvinsson scored 0-2 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ormur Ingólfsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Hlér Baldvinsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Númi Sturluson fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gimli Flúðum's protests and gave Númi Sturluson a yellow card for diving instead. Númi Sturluson kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Gimli Flúðum were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kjallakur Björgvinsson was the one to do the kick off. Hlér Baldvinsson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ormur Ingólfsson firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ormur Ingólfsson made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Hlér Baldvinsson sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Kjallakur Björgvinsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gimli Flúðum's supporters rose to their feet, but Kjallakur Björgvinsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ormur Ingólfsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jói Hallmundsson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 68th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Antik Kópaskeri's Oddmar Skaptason got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sigurlinni Harðarson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hersir Hrútsson having to interfere. Antik Kópaskeri's Oddmar Skaptason got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 81 minutes into the game, Hólmbert Sigfússon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Antik Kópaskeri's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gimli Flúðum the free kick. In the 83rd match minute, Antik Kópaskeri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hólmbert Sigfússon to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes into the match, Gimli Flúðum's goal looked a bit too open when Oddmar Skaptason came free, but Hersir Hrútsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute Hólmbert Sigfússon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hersir Hrútsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gimli Flúðum's Hjálmar Ernirsson got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gimli Flúðum eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
