Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Loki Dagþórsson sent off a good shot on target. When Friðfinnur Egilsson fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Akron's protests and gave Friðfinnur Egilsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th match minute, Akron was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Friðfinnur Egilsson to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Griffill's Loki Dagþórsson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Svangeir Bergmansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson having to interfere. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Griffill's Loki Dagþórsson. But to his dismay, Loki Dagþórsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Akron's goalkeeper Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 40 minutes into the game, Eylaugur Baldvinsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Akron's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Griffill the free kick. In the 40th match minute, Akron was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eylaugur Baldvinsson to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Svangeir Bergmansson in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson saved Akron from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Griffill's Svangeir Bergmansson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson. That made the score 2-0 after 43 minutes of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eylaugur Baldvinsson to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Friðfinnur Egilsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jóhann Sólbergsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. After a rather tough play, Akron's Yrkill Hlynsson got a free kick in the 57th minute. In the 59th minute Svangeir Bergmansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Loki Dagþórsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svangeir Bergmansson in the 65th minute of play. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 87 minutes into the match, Svangeir Bergmansson notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Akron's Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Loki Dagþórsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Griffill had played much better football throughout.
