Álfgeir Hannibalsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Austmar Janusson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 4th match minute, Æsir Ásgarðr was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marel Ingimundarson to maneuver through the defense. After 5 played minutes, V.V.V - Venlo's Rafnar Sveinsson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eldór Hreiðarsson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in V.V.V - Venlo reached it. Húmi Nikulásson's late challenge caught a Æsir Ásgarðr's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Húmi Nikulásson helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to V.V.V - Venlo getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Húmi Nikulásson hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the game, Álfgeir Hannibalsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Æsir Ásgarðr's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave V.V.V - Venlo the free kick. After a rather tough play, Æsir Ásgarðr's Álfgeir Hannibalsson got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind V.V.V - Venlo's goalkeeper Austmar Janusson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 19 played minutes V.V.V - Venlo got a freekick which was hit by Starri Kjaransson. Álfgeir Hannibalsson took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Austmar Janusson. Austmar Janusson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Justin Kluivert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Eldór Hreiðarsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Álfgeir Hannibalsson hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, V.V.V - Venlo's Eldór Hreiðarsson threw himself towards the right post 31 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Húmi Nikulásson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 34th minute Húmi Nikulásson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eldór Hreiðarsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kristján Ófeigsson in the 35th minute of play forced V.V.V - Venlo's goalkeeper Austmar Janusson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eldór Hreiðarsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justin Kluivert in the 41st minute of play. Eldór Hreiðarsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafnar Sveinsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Álfgeir Hannibalsson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute of the match, Álfgeir Hannibalsson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Austmar Janusson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 53rd minute of the match Æsir Ásgarðr got a corner. V.V.V - Venlo's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Marel Ingimundarson ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 54th minute Æsir Ásgarðr were awarded a corner. Marel Ingimundarson went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Marel Ingimundarson got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Austmar Janusson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Rafnar Sveinsson scored 2-1 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eldór Hreiðarsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Austmar Janusson made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Guðvin Skúlason sent off a good shot on target. In the 73rd minute Kristján Ófeigsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Austmar Janusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 74 minutes of play, Æsir Ásgarðr's Guðvin Skúlason made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Austmar Janusson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kristján Ófeigsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Æsir Ásgarðr booed when V.V.V - Venlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Friðþór Bjarmason didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, V.V.V - Venlo's Austmar Janusson got control of the ball when Guðvin Skúlason tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 86th minute, Sævaldur Álfgrímsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Æsir Ásgarðr's Álfgeir Hannibalsson got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Álfgeir Hannibalsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Austmar Janusson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Rafnar Sveinsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eldór Hreiðarsson. Æsir Ásgarðr's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rafnar Sveinsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2.
