Basil McPhilip made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bracken Mulvihill in the 7th minute of play. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Calfstown's goalkeeper Basil McPhilip, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Basil McPhilip took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Binnech Keegan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 20th minute, Bracken Mulvihill ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Basil McPhilip was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. The referee ignored Kilkea Utd's protests and gave Bernard McJohn a yellow card for diving instead. Lewy Deery made in the 38th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Kilkea Utd's Binnech Keegan. After a defensive mix-up in Calfstown's zone, Binnech Keegan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basil McPhilip came out of the goal and Binnech Keegan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 41 minutes, Bracken Mulvihill made it 0-4 with a short kick to the right side. Calfstown's Basil McPhilip tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Basil McPhilip didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bracken Mulvihill went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sherlock Kelly to make the kick off. In the 58th minute Bracken Mulvihill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basil McPhilip saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bracken Mulvihills short, quick shot in the 61stth minute got Basil McPhilip to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The audience was convinced that Bracken Mulvihill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Basil McPhilip was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Basil McPhilip took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bracken Mulvihill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bracken Mulvihill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Binnech Keegan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Basil McPhilip made a huge save. Bracken Mulvihill received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Basil McPhilip came out and tried to block the shot, but Bracken Mulvihill slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 82nd minute. Bracken Mulvihill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Basil McPhilip took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bracken Mulvihill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute, Calfstown's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Binnech Keegan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Binnech Keegan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Calfstown's zone, Bracken Mulvihill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basil McPhilip came out of the goal and Bracken Mulvihill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kilkea Utd's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
