Binne McLaughlin was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 24th minute Felim Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rory Scully saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Healey Dalton was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 27 minutes into the match. Beartlai McSteve shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Séamus McOliver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rory Scully having to interfere. Knockstopher's Séamus McOliver was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 33rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Knockstopher's Hayes Gollogley got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Séamus McOliver scored 2-1 in the 56th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rory Scully, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Bohannon Kelly hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Rory Scully took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Derin McDonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd match minute, Gortaheera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boyne McPeter to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rdth minute of the game Séamus McOliver who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gortaheera's Rory Scully was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Séamus McOliver struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Rory Scully didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knockstopher. 81 minutes into the match, Gortaheera's goal looked a bit too open when Séamus McOliver came free, but Rory Scully reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felim Byrne struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Rory Scully didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Knockstopher. A sloppy throw-in by Derin McDonald in the 85th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Gortaheera's Barry McDonald. Barran McBrandon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Boyne McPeter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Binne McLaughlin having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Knockstopher fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gortaheera had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
