John Todd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gearard Sheridan in the 10th minute of play. If Biddy Hunt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. Bardain Dunne could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Rory McDonald made a huge save. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kildare's goalkeeper John Todd, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 22 minutes of play, Boyle's Hickey Tierney made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. John Todd was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 25 played minutes Kildare got a freekick which was hit by Biddy Hunt. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Gearard Sheridan sped through Kildare's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of John Todd. Keegan McLiam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but John Todd read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Boyle's Aban Hunt got a free kick in the 35th minute. The audience was convinced that Keegan McLiam's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John Todd was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. After having played for 47 minutes, Keegan McLiam managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boyle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Keegan McLiam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Boyle booed when Kildare was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin McBrand didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 minutes of play, Kildare's Biddy Hunt made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rory McDonald was left in no man's land by his defense there! Keegan McLiam received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. John Todd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edwin McBrand kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. With a little luck, Kildare's John Todd got control of the ball when Keegan McLiam tried to sneak it across the goal line. After taking down the ball on Boyle's corner Hickey Tierney fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and John Todd quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Boyle's zone, Bardain Dunne stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rory McDonald came out of the goal and Bardain Dunne tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 85 minutes, Hickey Tierney managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boyle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hickey Tierney was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edwin McBrand hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match.
