In the 4th minute, Denny Gallagher left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Smithfield FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bevin Perth in the 9th minute of play forced Donagheumper's goalkeeper Bram Frankson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniel Rogers during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Daniel Rogers kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Donagheumper's goal looked a bit too open when Bevin Perth came free, but Bram Frankson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Denny Gallagher managed to get in a good position for a shot. Smithfield FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Denny Gallagher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bram Frankson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tevin Taylor's late challenge caught a Donagheumper's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tevin Taylor helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th minute, Tevin Taylor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Smithfield FC's Shiel McTommy proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Smithfield FC from getting a goal against them. During the 22nd minute of the match Daniel Rogers completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Daniel Rogers a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Heremon Byrne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Shiel McTommy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35thth minute of the game Heremon Byrne who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Smithfield FC's Shiel McTommy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute of the match Boroimhe McIan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Shiel McTommy showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Shiel McTommy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heremon Byrne, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Shiel McTommy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heremon Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heremon Byrne to strike the kick off in the second half. If Heremon Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Heremon Byrne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Shiel McTommy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 87 minutes into the match, Smithfield FC's goal looked a bit too open when Heremon Byrne came free, but Shiel McTommy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 89 minutes of play, Donagheumper's Heremon Byrne made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Shiel McTommy was left in no man's land by his defense there! The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
