Oldbawn's Robert Cassin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Oldbawn from getting a goal against them. Cregganbaun's Rylee Dalton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brak Cronin in the 18th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cregganbaun's zone, Lee Sheridan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rylee Dalton came out of the goal and Lee Sheridan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Rory Dimson fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cregganbaun's protests and gave Rory Dimson a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Oldbawn booed when Cregganbaun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rory Dimson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lee Sheridan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Brak Cronin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Quinn McPhil's late challenge caught a Cregganbaun's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Quinn McPhil helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Cregganbaun booed when Oldbawn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quinn McPhil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lee Sheridan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Rylee Dalton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Oldbawn booed when Cregganbaun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brickeen Holt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 41st minute Brak Cronin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rylee Dalton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Brak Cronin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Rylee Dalton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oliver Kelly to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Kevion Cassin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oliver Kelly recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bowie Caffey during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bowie Caffey hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. When Oliver Kelly came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Cregganbaun fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oliver Kelly couldn't finish the play. Robert Cassin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oliver Kelly in the 58th minute of the match. In the 59thth minute of the game Aengus Moran who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Oldbawn's Robert Cassin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Oldbawn's zone, Aengus Moran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Robert Cassin came out of the goal and Aengus Moran tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 62nd minute Aengus Moran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robert Cassin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Cregganbaun fans' excitement grew in the 68th match minute when Cregganbaun's Oliver Kelly looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 72 minutes of play, Cregganbaun's Aengus Moran made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Robert Cassin was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aengus Moran in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Robert Cassin saved Oldbawn from getting behind. In the 77th minute Brak Cronin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rylee Dalton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot 78 in the game by Lee Sheridan from a close distance when the talented Rylee Dalton managed to make a qualified save. Cregganbaun's players were relieved. Aengus Moran might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Robert Cassin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aengus Moran ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 86th match minute, Oldbawn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lee Sheridan to maneuver through the defense. After 93 minutes of play, Cregganbaun's Oliver Kelly made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Robert Cassin was left in no man's land by his defense there!
