The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Galway Footballers's Donal Hamilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blathma Quinnless in the 5th minute of play. In the 7th minute, Blathma Quinnless fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After a rather tough play, Sandyford's Aron Robinson got a free kick in the 11th minute. Rownun McMichel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick McBrand having to interfere. Riley Savic scored 0-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Patrick McBrand, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cormac Dalton hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 37th minute, Boylan McWilliam hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blathma Quinnless received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Donal Hamilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Blathma Quinnless sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Galway Footballers's goalkeeper Donal Hamilton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Blathma Quinnless was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 47th minute. Sandyford's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rownun McMichel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bardan Cooney charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bardan Cooney the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Galway Footballers fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 62nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave Sandyford a penalty, 63 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cormac Dalton, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Galway Footballers's Donal Hamilton. 2-1. Galway Footballers's Donal Hamilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bradon Tierney in the 67th minute of play. Bradon Tierney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Donal Hamilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Bradon Tierney got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Donal Hamilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bran Ramsey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick McBrand didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Riley Savic went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. 87 minutes into the game, Sandyford's Blathma Quinnless nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Donal Hamilton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. In the 90th match minute, Sandyford was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aron Robinson to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute Bradon Tierney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donal Hamilton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The attack was good, but when Blathma Quinnless in the 95th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After 96 played minutes Galway Footballers got a freekick which was hit by Torran McIan. Bradon Tierney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Donal Hamilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sandyford fully deserved thier win.
