The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute, Bairthmead Palmer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baird McJohn made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Dermot Jameson sent off a good shot on target. Gearalt Barrett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaden Cooney in the 11th minute of the match. With a little luck, Raferagh's Baird McJohn got control of the ball when Dermot Jameson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Berke McOliver kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Raferagh's Fergal Martyn nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gearalt Barrett made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Cork's Gearalt Barrett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brak Costello in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cork's Bedilia Deery got a free kick in the 34th minute. Dermot Jameson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Baird McJohn came out and tried to block the shot, but Dermot Jameson slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 39th minute. Bairthmead Palmer made in the 43rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Donegan Cronin. A collision led to Cork getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Devlin Moran hit a great ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Dermot Jameson made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Fergal Martyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gearalt Barrett saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 57 played minutes Cork got a freekick which was hit by Donoghue Ramsey. In the 63rd minute, Bedilia Deery got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cork's Berke McOliver got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gearalt Barrett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fergal Martyn in the 83rd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Cork's Renny McWilliam seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Renny McWilliam the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Cork protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Renny McWilliam had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cork fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 84th minute. Penalty! Gearalt Barrett was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Fergal Martyn capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Fergal Martyn really showed his touch with that goal: 2-4. Cork's Gearalt Barrett proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 99th minute of the match, managed to save Cork from getting a goal against them. When the match was over Raferagh could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Cork throughout the match.
