The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gerry Kerridge struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tony Butterfield got free with Gary Boulding in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gary Boulding was out of position in the 14 minute of play, and Nicky Stewart capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Nicky Stewart really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Tony Butterfield was extremely unlucky when he, in the 26th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to Brumtown FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Abraham Gold hit a great ball. Brumtown FC's Abraham Gold got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gary Boulding showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Anderson, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After having played for 45 minutes, Abraham Gold managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brumtown FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abraham Gold was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When Bobby Tinker came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Golders Green United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bobby Tinker couldn't finish the play. Nicky Stewart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gary Boulding having to interfere. Nicky Stewart's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gary Boulding read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Gary Boulding showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicky Stewart, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Tony Butterfield scored 2-0 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gary Boulding, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicky Stewart in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gary Boulding prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jeremy Longthorn during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 74 played minutes Golders Green United got a freekick which was hit by Jeremy Longthorn. In the 77thth minute of the game Curtis Hodges who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Golders Green United's Gary Boulding was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tony Butterfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gary Boulding having to interfere. Leo Symons breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brumtown FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
