Woolwich's Ollie Sheringham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Blackwater in the 3rd minute of play. Nicholas Eslworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ollie Sheringham having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Woolwich's Philip Basterfield got a free kick in the 7th minute. Benji Blewett hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Basil Sheridan succeeded in the game's 10th minute to get real power on a long shot . Woolwich's Ollie Sheringham hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 0-1! In the 14th minute, Ivor Pyrah hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ivor Pyrah's late challenge caught a Woolwich's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivor Pyrah helped the player get up and apologised. After 16 played minutes Strood AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ivor Pyrah. In the 18th minute, Philip Basterfield hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eric Blackwater in the 22nd minute of play forced Woolwich's goalkeeper Ollie Sheringham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ollie Sheringham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Blackwater in the 28th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Ronny Hicks managed to get in a good position for a shot. Woolwich's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronny Hicks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mickey Elding breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eric Blackwater struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Ollie Sheringham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Strood AFC. In the 35th minute, Nicholas Eslworth made a precise shot to the right of Ollie Sheringham. Woolwich's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. If Eric Blackwater had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Woolwich's zone, Eric Blackwater stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ollie Sheringham came out of the goal and Eric Blackwater tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

A collision led to Woolwich getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Philip Basterfield hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute, Basil Sheridan sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Woolwich's Ollie Sheringham didn't even have to move. Eric Blackwater struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Ollie Sheringham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Strood AFC. Ollie Sheringham made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric Blackwater in the 73rd minute. The supporters of Strood AFC booed when Woolwich was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stephen Legzdins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ollie Sheringham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicholas Eslworth in the 75th minute of play. Gez Bullard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eric Blackwater blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ollie Sheringham having to make a save. 86 minutes into the match, Strood AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronny Hicks came free, but Mickey Elding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eric Blackwater in the 89thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ollie Sheringham, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 94 minutes into the match, Strood AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Ronny Hicks came free, but Mickey Elding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Strood AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
