With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matty Ricketts prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With his leg Matty Ricketts managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when Stockport Rockers FC's Mick Blain fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 23rd minute of the match Stew Cummings sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Matty Ricketts skillfully saved the ball. Matty Ricketts made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reuben Deacon in the 27th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ash Windsor during the 27th minute. Matty Ricketts breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 48thth minute of the game Mick Blain who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Heckmondwike FC's Matty Ricketts was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mick Blain stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Mick Blain's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matty Ricketts was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. There was no doubt that Stockport Rockers FC were the better team. Stockport Rockers FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
