The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Johnathon Sykes kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After 6 played minutes Redruth Black got a freekick which was hit by Derek Thorne. In the 7th minute Johnathon Sykes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Hitchen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnathon Sykes scored 0-1 in the 9th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Noel Hitchen, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 12th minute, Armitage Shanks FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jake Kyle fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pete Wrigley in the 19th minute of play forced Redruth Black's goalkeeper Noel Hitchen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Pete Wrigley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Hitchen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Scott Crabtree's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Travis Hazell was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Travis Hazell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Kyle in the 22nd minute of the match. Scott Crabtrees short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Travis Hazell to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After a rather tough play, Redruth Black's Derek Thorne got a free kick in the 27th minute. Redruth Black's Noel Hitchen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnathon Sykes in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th match minute, Redruth Black was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derek Thorne to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Armitage Shanks FC booed when Redruth Black was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derek Thorne didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Redruth Black's goal looked a bit too open when Jude Beech came free, but Noel Hitchen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Travis Hazell made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Ermegildo Blasco sent off a good shot on target. If Jake Kyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Noel Hitchen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jude Beech, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Noel Hitchen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joshua Dibb in the 43rd minute of the match. After 44 played minutes Armitage Shanks FC got a freekick which was hit by Keith Pamplin. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Noel Hitchen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnathon Sykes, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 53rd minute, Derek Thorne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Redruth Black's Scott Crabtree got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Travis Hazell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ermegildo Blasco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 70 minutes into the match, Redruth Black's Scott Crabtree sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Travis Hazell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Travis Hazell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Kyle in the 78th minute of the match. A collision led to Armitage Shanks FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Joshua Dibb hit a great ball. Jake Kyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Travis Hazell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Scott Crabtree, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. If Jake Kyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
