Shaun Addison kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Olly Trueman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but David Brownlow made a huge save. Olly Trueman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Danny Winstanley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Charlie Phelps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danny Winstanley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Charlie Phelps read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. A collision led to Gloucester City getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Austin Caine hit a great ball. Olly Trueman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 40th minute, Olly Trueman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Darlington United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. In the 43rd match minute, Darlington United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sammy Leatherdale to maneuver through the defense. Sammy Leatherdale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Brownlow having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Phil Leeson was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olly Trueman in the 56th minute of play forced Gloucester City's goalkeeper David Brownlow to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olly Trueman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. David Brownlow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rdth minute of the game Olly Trueman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gloucester City's David Brownlow was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Olly Trueman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Darlington United's supporters rose to their feet, but Olly Trueman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Brownlow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. David Brownlow showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olly Trueman in the 82nd minute of the match. If Olly Trueman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Olly Trueman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olly Trueman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 97 minutes into the game, Darlington United's Olly Trueman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Brownlow made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. When the referee ended the match the Darlington United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
