Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Sammy Leatherdale kicked off to start the match. Darlington United's Sammy Leatherdale got a good chance for a goal in the 2nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 7 minutes into the match, Darlington United's goal looked a bit too open when Pierce Goodwin came free, but Charlie Phelps reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Todd Hislop hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Bollington City's Ged Renton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sammy Leatherdale in the 12th minute of play. Ged Renton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sammy Leatherdale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sammy Leatherdale in the 19th minute of play forced Bollington City's goalkeeper Ged Renton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Charlie Phelps showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martyn Walsh, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Ged Renton came out of the goal in the 27th minute to try and stop a shot by Darlington United's Sammy Leatherdale. But to his dismay, Sammy Leatherdale quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. If Sammy Leatherdale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, one of Bollington City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bollington City. Ben Platt walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 39th minute, Martyn Walsh ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Charlie Phelps was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Charlie Phelps came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Bollington City's Pierce Goodwin. But to his dismay, Pierce Goodwin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. With an all-out effort, Darlington United's Ged Renton threw himself towards the right post 45 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sammy Leatherdale, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The supporters of Darlington United booed when Bollington City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ben Edworthy didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Olly Trueman kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ged Renton. That made the score 3-2 in the 47 minute of play.

In the 55th minute Olly Trueman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ged Renton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55th minute, Olly Trueman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ged Renton was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Elwick during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 58th minute, Victor Elwick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Darlington United's zone, Pierce Goodwin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charlie Phelps came out of the goal and Pierce Goodwin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 63rd minute, Pierce Goodwin fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Charlie Phelps, passed just outside the right post. When Les Barker fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Darlington United's protests and gave Les Barker a yellow card for diving instead. Les Barker hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pierce Goodwin in the 77th minute of play forced Darlington United's goalkeeper Charlie Phelps to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 78 minutes, Martyn Walsh managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bollington City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martyn Walsh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. One of Darlington United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Bollington City:s goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
