Ambleside's Vinnie Cooper proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Ambleside from getting a goal against them. Bruce Lamb charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. 51 minutes into the match, Liverpool FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Alderson came free, but Eddy Sheppard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vinnie Cooper came out of the goal and Martyn Hatcher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Martyn Hatcher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martyn Hatcher in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vinnie Cooper saved Ambleside from getting behind. When Liverpool FC's Dave Markinson in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ambleside's goalie prevented a goal. Vinnie Cooper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Markinson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Markinson in the 90th minute of play forced Ambleside's goalkeeper Vinnie Cooper to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Sebastian Alderson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vinnie Cooper showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Markinson, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Liverpool FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
