Birches Head Wreck
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Birches Head Potters's Cody Duckworth started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jerry Barton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cody Duckworth in the 3rd minute of play. Cody Duckworth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zack Whitehead fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerry Barton having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Birches Head Potters's Cody Duckworth slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jerry Barton. That made the score 1-0 after 13 minutes of play. A collision led to Birches Head Potters getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Harvey Foley hit a great ball. The supporters of Lilywhites booed when Birches Head Potters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Elliot didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marc Sutton was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Lilywhites's goalkeeper Jerry Barton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Zack Whitehead struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Jerry Barton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Birches Head Potters. 29 minutes into the game, Zack Whitehead cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Jerry Barton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jerry Barton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zack Whitehead in the 32nd minute. Zane Renwick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Locke having to interfere. Nathan Locke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Flower in the 37th minute of play. Frank Flower fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nathan Locke having to interfere. Nathan Locke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Flower in the 43rd minute of the match. The wind increased when Zane Renwick made the kick off in the second half. Frank Flower struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. The supporters of Lilywhites booed when Birches Head Potters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rupert Paley didn't get a good kick on the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Cody Duckworth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jerry Barton. Lilywhites's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cody Duckworth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. After 74 played minutes Lilywhites got a freekick which was hit by Jack Love. Jerry Barton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zack Whitehead in the 76th minute of play. Nathan Locke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zane Renwick in the 77th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, Frank Flower cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Nathan Locke was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cody Duckworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jerry Barton having to interfere. Zack Whitehead took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jerry Barton. Jerry Barton dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Jack Love hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Birches Head Potters's Piers Llewellyn tried to score from far away in the 89th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jack Love during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 91 played minutes Lilywhites got a freekick which was hit by Jack Love. Jack Love received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Nathan Locke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 96 minutes, Robert Elliot mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Birches Head Potters and the Lilywhites players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Birches Head Potters getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Robert Elliot hit a great ball. Lilywhites's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
