In the 3rd minute Gaz Oldham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jude Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Keiran Reeve fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hayden Cartwright having to interfere. After having played for 10 minutes, Max Boatman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brierley Hill's supporters crossed their fingers, but Max Boatman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jude Whitworth stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Max Boatman's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. In the 13th match minute, Denton United FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daryl Gilchrist to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute Max Boatman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jude Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jude Whitworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Max Boatman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Denton United FC booed when Brierley Hill was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rex Middleton didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 23rd minute, Dane Teague sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Brierley Hill's Hayden Cartwright didn't even have to move. Denton United FC's Jude Whitworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Boatman in the 26th minute of play. Brierley Hill's Gaz Oldham got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gaz Oldham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Jude Whitworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Denton United FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Daryl Gilchrist hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Brierley Hill's Crispin Barber tried to score from far away in the 44th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Robin Hackney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Keiran Reeve stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Keiran Reeve came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Denton United FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keiran Reeve couldn't finish the play. In the 55th minute, Denton United FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gaz Oldham fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Denton United FC's Jude Whitworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Max Boatman in the 61st minute of play. If Max Boatman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gaz Oldham's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 65thth minute, Jude Whitworth skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Gaz Oldham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Jude Whitworth made a huge save. Gaz Oldham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jude Whitworth having to interfere. Denton United FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 95th minute, when Rex Middleton scored to the left of an out of position Jude Whitworth, making the score, 0-1. The Brierley Hill players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
