Kasey Sheehan might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jack Silvester. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kasey Sheehan ran back to his position shaking his head. Jack Silvester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Bull in the 15th minute of the match. Peter Le Tissier took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jack Silvester. Hammers Southend's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With an all-out effort, Manchester united FC's Jack Silvester threw himself towards the right post 24 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dave Cotterill, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 29 played minutes Hammers Southend got a freekick which was hit by Robert Calder. If Kasey Sheehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lenny Walmsley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jack Silvester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dave Cotterill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57thth minute of the game Dave Cotterill who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hammers Southend's Jack Silvester was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Kasey Sheehan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dave Cotterill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jack Silvester read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Hammers Southend's zone, Alfie Green stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jack Silvester came out of the goal and Alfie Green tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dave Cotterill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jack Silvester having to interfere. In the 76th match minute, Hammers Southend was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dylan Oatway to maneuver through the defense. If Kasey Sheehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dylan Oatway hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Hammers Southend's zone, Dave Cotterill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. In the 98thth minute of the game Dave Cotterill who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hammers Southend's Jack Silvester was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
