Iffley Foxes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Graeme Deacon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Graeme Deacon hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Mick Warner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Donny Coulson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mick Warner in the 18th minute of play forced Iffley Foxes's goalkeeper Donny Coulson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Mick Warner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 23 played minutes Real Nickos got a freekick which was hit by Dean Proctor. The audience thought a goal was coming when Graeme Deacon got free with Ivor Clement in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Dean Proctor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Nickos's supporters rose to their feet, but Dean Proctor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donny Coulson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ed Halliday kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Donny Coulson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dean Proctor, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Dennis Peat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivor Clement having to interfere.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Graeme Deacon in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ivor Clement prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivor Clement showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Peat in the 54th minute of the match. Donny Coulson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dean Proctor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mick Warner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donny Coulson having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Real Nickos's Guy Corrigan got a free kick in the 60th minute. 63 minutes into the game, Conan Warner was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Real Nickos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iffley Foxes the free kick. The supporters of Iffley Foxes booed when Real Nickos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Conan Warner didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matty Alcock charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Matty Alcock the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 66 played minutes Real Nickos got a freekick which was hit by Matty Alcock. In the 70th minute Brian Adamson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivor Clement saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Graeme Deacon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ivor Clement read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Graeme Deacon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivor Clement having to interfere. The supporters of Iffley Foxes booed when Real Nickos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Hardy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donny Coulson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dean Proctor in the 80th minute of play. Iffley Foxes's Donny Coulson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Iffley Foxes from getting a goal against them. In the 94th match minute, Real Nickos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vic Stockdale to maneuver through the defense. Dave Hazledine, 95 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Dennis Peat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
