To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Niepokonani FC defense, Isaac Cartwright kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Karl Coyle. The Niepokonani FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Karl Coyle should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Westhoughton City booed when Niepokonani FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Mimms didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keith Beard was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 14th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andre Dunn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Reg Ring might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Karl Coyle. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reg Ring ran back to his position shaking his head. 63 minutes into the match, Niepokonani FC's goalkeeper Karl Coyle had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reg Ring. Karl Coyle yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. Casey Flintoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Westhoughton City's Keith Beard got a free kick in the 86th minute. Robbie Osbourne showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casey Flintoff in the 90th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Jacob Carlick got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
