After having played for 13 minutes, Gwyn North managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. oldham united's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gwyn North was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With his leg Henry Nethercoat managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when oldham united's Gwyn Davis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The oldham united fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when oldham united's Gwyn North looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 26thth minute of the game Gwyn North who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Knottingley's Henry Nethercoat was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Gwyn Davis came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the oldham united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gwyn Davis couldn't finish the play. Scott Sutton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johnathon Bramble's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Henry Nethercoat made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gwyn Davis in the 35th minute. Gwyn Davis who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 38thth minute tested the skills of Henry Nethercoat when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Marty Alsop's late challenge caught a oldham united's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marty Alsop helped the player get up and apologised. In the 41st minute, Marty Alsop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brett Windsor hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Henry Nethercoat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gwyn North in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johnathon Bramble stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the game, oldham united's Gwyn North nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henry Nethercoat made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gwyn North in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Henry Nethercoat prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Henry Nethercoat stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gwyn Davis's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. If Gwyn North had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Scott Sutton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnathon Bramble in the 72nd minute of the match. The oldham united fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. oldham united walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
