John-Paul Pell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lewis Picker, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Harvey Palmer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sidney Bourne in the 15th minute of the match. 25 minutes into the match, Riseley United's goal looked a bit too open when Sidney Bourne came free, but Harvey Palmer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Newnham getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Dean Grayson hit a great ball. Andre La Forte took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 28th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for John-Paul Pell. Newnham's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rick Ainsworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sidney Bourne stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Newnham's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Elam was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Harvey Palmer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidney Bourne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Harvey Palmer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Peter Elam in the 54th minute of play. Rick Ainsworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Pell having to interfere. In the 78th minute Lewis Picker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but John-Paul Pell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Sidney Bourne's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Harvey Palmer was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Rick Ainsworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Pell having to interfere. When Riseley United's Lewis Picker in the 94th minute got a chance for a shot 94th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Newnham's goalie prevented a goal. The Riseley United players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
