Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Austen Stone in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wayne Boothroyd prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 7 minutes into the match, South Benfleet FC's goal looked a bit too open when Al Sinclair came free, but Alfred Hunt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Alistair Kirk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of South Benfleet FC booed when Osp boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steven Pinder didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Alistair Kirk kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wayne Boothroyd. That made the score 1-1 in the 16 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alistair Kirk in the 19th minute of play forced Osp boys's goalkeeper Wayne Boothroyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfred Hunt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alf Carter in the 25th minute of the match. In the 27th minute Wes Barone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Hunt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Danny Humphreys received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Wayne Boothroyd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfred Hunt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Al Sinclair in the 31st minute of play. In the 35th minute Steven Pinder shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Hunt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Austen Stone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Osp boys's Wayne Boothroyd played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Austen Stone in the 43rd minute of play. 44 minutes in the game, Austen Stone fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Wayne Boothroyd having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Steven Pinder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Osp boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave South Benfleet FC the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Austen Stone stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 73 played minutes Osp boys got a freekick which was hit by Steven Pinder. Alfred Hunt made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Wes Barone sent off a good shot on target. Austen Stone recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wayne Boothroyd stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Austen Stone's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. If Luke Sedgemore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Austen Stone in the 95th minute of play forced Osp boys's goalkeeper Wayne Boothroyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Osp boys eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
