Kurt Miles kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donny Rundell in the 7th minute of play forced Laindon FC's goalkeeper Rufus Broadbent to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kyle East was extremely unlucky when he, in the 13th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Shrewsbury's Byron Whitman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle East in the 15th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Owen Stone managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shrewsbury's supporters crossed their fingers, but Owen Stone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kyle East received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Byron Whitman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Duncan Capes fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Shrewsbury's protests and gave Duncan Capes a yellow card for diving instead. Duncan Capes hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Byron Whitman was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alf Chandler. In the 39th minute, Kyle East reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Byron Whitman. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 45th minute, Laindon FC's Kyle East dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donny Rundell to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Shrewsbury's goal looked a bit too open when Kyle East came free, but Byron Whitman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Byron Whitman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kyle East in the 66th minute of the match. Kyle East struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Byron Whitman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laindon FC. When Kyle East came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Laindon FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kyle East couldn't finish the play. Donny Rundell struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Rufus Broadbent didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shrewsbury. Martyn Bullock kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the game, one of Laindon FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Rufus Broadbent, was totally fooled by Shrewsbury's Duncan Capes, who 86 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Marcus Beerman kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Samuel Pritchard hit a great freekick 100 minutes into the match. Shrewsbury's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
