After 6 minutes, Gaz Fry mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the London Met Academy and the Southampton fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of London Met Academy:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Southampton fc:s goal. Jasper Emberson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 13th minute, Tommy Acton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute Jasper Emberson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Bancroft saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, London Met Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Jasper Emberson came free, but Pedro Bancroft reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Eanes in the 33rd minute of play forced Southampton fc's goalkeeper Travis McAleer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kevin Eanes's late challenge caught a Southampton fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kevin Eanes helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Southampton fc booed when London Met Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Eanes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute, Kevin Eanes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Southampton fc's Jasper Emberson got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Jasper Emberson made the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute, Jamie Price hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Bancroft showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jasper Emberson, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Denzil Brook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Travis McAleer having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Southampton fc's Vinnie Everard got a free kick in the 85th minute. London Met Academy's Pedro Bancroft played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jasper Emberson in the 90th minute of play. If Ozzy Cooper had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Southampton fc had won after a very even match.
