Spectators: 7542 (Terracing: 5658, Seating: 1734, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Donny Rundell started the match with the kick off. After 3 played minutes Shrewsbury got a freekick which was hit by Luke Ricketts. Jasper Emberson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Byron Whitman having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Shrewsbury's goal looked a bit too open when Jasper Emberson came free, but Byron Whitman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 16 played minutes Jasper Emberson rounded Shrewsbury's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Travis McAleer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donny Rundell, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After having played for 27 minutes, Donny Rundell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shrewsbury's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donny Rundell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Owen Stone in the 33rd minute of play forced Southampton fc's goalkeeper Travis McAleer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shrewsbury's Donny Rundell got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Owen Stone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Owen Stone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Travis McAleer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Shrewsbury's Jeremy Barker got a free kick in the 44th minute. Travis McAleer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Owen Stone in the 47th minute of the match. Donny Rundell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 50th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Travis McAleer having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jasper Emberson to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Shrewsbury booed when Southampton fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vinnie Everard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Travis McAleer made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Owen Stone sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute, Donny Rundell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Brian Delaney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 73 minutes, Jasper Emberson made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Shrewsbury's Byron Whitman tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jamie Price hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Donny Rundell took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Travis McAleer. Travis McAleer dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Brian Delaney sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Owen Stone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donny Rundell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Travis McAleer having to interfere. The Southampton fc support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
