If Mark Burns had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rory Whiteley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Les Lane, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ivan Ainge sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the match, Wilnecote Wanders's goal looked a bit too open when Les Lane came free, but Rory Whiteley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, Mark Burns had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rory Whiteley. Wilnecote Wanders's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mark Burns was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. 0-3 became the score in the 35th minute when Les Lane elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Rory Whiteley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mark Burns in the 38th minute of play. Junior Swain recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ivan Ainge recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. With his leg Rory Whiteley managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when Ipswich's Les Lane fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Wilnecote Wanders's Rory Whiteley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mark Burns in the 55th minute of play. Les Lane blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rory Whiteley having to make a save. Rory Whiteley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mark Burns, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rory Whiteley made an important save on a dangerous shot by Les Lane in the 59th minute. When Zak Bedford came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Ipswich fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zak Bedford couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Les Lane managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipswich's supporters rose to their feet, but Les Lane was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rory Whiteley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
