Nicholas Bettinson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Crispin Rusby, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. After a rather tough play, FC Huntingdon's Dylon Bond got a free kick in the 5th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Lucas Stockton notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of FC Huntingdon's Nicholas Bettinson. Nicholas Bettinson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 16 minutes into the game, Jim Spacey was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Huntingdon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wells the free kick. A collision led to FC Huntingdon getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Jim Spacey hit a great ball. Crispin Rusby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicholas Bettinson having to interfere. Jamal Liddle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Barton having to interfere. Jim Spacey was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. FC Huntingdon's Reg Shakespeare got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 30 minutes, Crispin Rusby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wells's supporters crossed their fingers, but Crispin Rusby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, FC Huntingdon's goal looked a bit too open when Crispin Rusby came free, but Nicholas Bettinson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Lucas Stockton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Crispin Rusby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Crispin Rusby had several of the FC Huntingdon's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 43 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Nicholas Bettinson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Crispin Rusby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Nicholas Bettinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reg Shakespeare to strike the kick off in the second half. Patrick Vaughan kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Nicholas Bettinson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Crispin Rusby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Lucas Stockton came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Wells fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucas Stockton couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute Lucas Stockton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicholas Bettinson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Crispin Rusby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Wells. Rowan Sutcliffe stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Nicholas Bettinson. 4-0. Dylon Bond hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. When Lucas Stockton came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Wells fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lucas Stockton couldn't finish the play. Nicholas Bettinson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lucas Stockton's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. Dylon Bond charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dylon Bond the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to FC Huntingdon getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Dylon Bond hit a great ball. Crispin Rusby sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
