Spectators: 7488 (Terracing: 5617, Seating: 1722, VIP seats: 149) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Mickey Beevers took the kick off in the first half of the match. Andre Hay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Bayford, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. 4 minutes into the game, Sol Akins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Doncaster Rovers's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Harpenden the free kick. Sol Akins kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Doncaster Rovers's Eric Appleton got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 8th minute of the match Adam Cotton shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dan Nash showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Sonny Stamp charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sonny Stamp the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 12 played minutes Doncaster Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Sonny Stamp. In the 17th match minute, Doncaster Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by William Hunter to maneuver through the defense. Adam Cotton took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 18th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dan Nash. Doncaster Rovers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 20th minute Byron Maskell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Nash saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21st minute, Mickey Beevers made a precise shot to the right of Dan Nash. Doncaster Rovers's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Dan Nash made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Byron Maskell in the 24th minute of play. Andre Hay made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Bayford in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Wayne Bensley had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Andre Hay. Harpenden's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wayne Bensley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Antony Fairfax fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Hay having to interfere. Andre Hay came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Doncaster Rovers's Wayne Bensley. But to his dismay, Wayne Bensley quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Antony Fairfax was the one to do the kick off. Andre Hay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wayne Bensley, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Dan Nash showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sid Rockett in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mickey Beevers in the 67th minute of play forced Doncaster Rovers's goalkeeper Dan Nash to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Martin Bayford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wayne Bensley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Andre Hay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wayne Bensley struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Andre Hay didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Doncaster Rovers. After having played for 73 minutes, Antony Fairfax managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Doncaster Rovers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antony Fairfax was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 74 minutes, Dylon Nicholson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Harpenden and the Doncaster Rovers players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Harpenden's Dylon Nicholson got a free kick in the 75th minute. If Martin Bayford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antony Fairfax's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andre Hay read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After 85 minutes Harpenden's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Antony Fairfax who took care of the corner kick. Martin Bayford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 90 minutes into the game, Antony Fairfax cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Andre Hay was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. During the 95th minute of the match Sonny Stamp completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Sonny Stamp a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to Doncaster Rovers getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Sonny Stamp hit a great ball.
