Spectators: 7555 (Terracing: 5668, Seating: 1737, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sly Neville started the match with the kick off. In the 5th minute, Josh Ploughman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Noel Tandy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ivan Wallbank in the 7th minute. After having played for 12 minutes, Frank Moorhouse managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oakham United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Moorhouse was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivan Wallbank could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Noel Tandy made a huge save. Junior Chiverton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donny Garnett in the 21st minute of play. Joshua Moxon, 27 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When Oakham United's Donny Garnett in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye FYR of Slough's goalie prevented a goal. When Syd Corbridge fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FYR of Slough's protests and gave Syd Corbridge a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FYR of Slough's Syd Corbridge got a free kick in the 31st minute. The audience was convinced that Donny Garnett's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Junior Chiverton was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Frank Moorhouse ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Junior Chiverton was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Junior Chiverton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank Moorhouse, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Liam Curtis hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donny Garnett to make the kick off. Sly Neville fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Noel Tandy having to interfere. If Sly Neville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Donny Garnett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Junior Chiverton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Moorhouse in the 72nd minute. 78 minutes into the game, Ronan Bowler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Oakham United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FYR of Slough the free kick. In the 78th match minute, Oakham United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronan Bowler to maneuver through the defense. Junior Chiverton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donny Garnett in the 80th minute of play. If Sly Neville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the match, Oakham United's goal looked a bit too open when Sly Neville came free, but Noel Tandy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind FYR of Slough's goalkeeper Junior Chiverton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Frank Moorhouse came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Oakham United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Moorhouse couldn't finish the play. Oakham United's Noel Tandy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sly Neville in the 97th minute of play. Oakham United's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
