Stoneleigh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stevie Welsh was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Stoneleigh's Marek Coogan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Neil Blackley. That made the score 1-0 after 15 minutes of play. In the 20th minute, Charlie Crowther got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stevie Welsh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stevie Welsh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Charlie Crowther made the kick off in the second half. If Stevie Welsh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute.
