Richard Rothwell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geoff Watts, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Richie Stonehouse charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Richie Stonehouse the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Wirral Blues booed when England was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richie Stonehouse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wirral Blues's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave England the free kick. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 38th minute, Marek Percival fired a really elegant long shot, but Richard Kalischer threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. In the 44th minute, Gaz Hoult made a precise shot to the right of Richard Kalischer. Wirral Blues's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dom Braithwaite to strike the kick off in the second half. After 55 played minutes Wirral Blues got a freekick which was hit by Trevor Jefferies. If Hayden Bzeu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wirral Blues's Richard Kalischer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaz Hoult in the 94th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Wirral Blues players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for England.
