Michael Croyden started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Panathinaikos F. C getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Vince Kenna hit a great ball. A hard shot by Dion Willets from long distance, 7 minutes into the match, got Ash Peat's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 1-0 became the score in the 9th minute when Mickey Kessler elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The supporters of Newton Green Rovers booed when Panathinaikos F. C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jay Bassett didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Newton Green Rovers's Ash Peat threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Doug Salt, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ash Peat made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mickey Kessler in the 17th minute. Doug Salt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ash Peat having to interfere. 27 minutes into the game, Mickey Kessler lined in a short shot 2-0 behind a frustrated Ash Peat. 31 minutes into the match, Newton Green Rovers's goal looked a bit too open when Mitch Ward came free, but Howard Noble reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Doug Salt hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Howard Noble made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Michael Croyden in the 35th minute of play. After 40 played minutes Newton Green Rovers got a freekick which was hit by Dion Willets. 46 minutes into the match, Panathinaikos F. C's goalkeeper Ash Peat had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mickey Kessler. When the match had gone on for 48 minutes, Mickey Kessler took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Ash Peat to make any attempt to save it.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Doug Salt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ash Peat didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Doug Salt went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Doug Salt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mitch Ward could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Howard Noble made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Harvey Bentley during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Newton Green Rovers booed when Panathinaikos F. C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harvey Bentley didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doug Salt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ash Peat having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Panathinaikos F. C's Michael Croyden dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 5-1. If Mickey Kessler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 89 minutes, Doug Salt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newton Green Rovers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doug Salt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Doug Salt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ash Peat was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Mickey Kessler struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Ash Peat didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newton Green Rovers. Ash Peat took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Doug Salt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Newton Green Rovers fully deserved thier win.
