Spectators: 5010 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 10) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Charlie Beverley got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute of the match, Charlie Beverley tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Vic Moxey saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Thomas Phelps's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Vic Moxey firmly grabbed it by the left post. Ivor Coleman's late challenge caught a Ely FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivor Coleman helped the player get up and apologised. Vic Moxey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Charlie Beverley, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Thomas Phelps got in the 12th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Vic Moxey handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Warren Darling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rueben Greaves in the 15th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Ely FC's Joe Trusswell got a free kick in the 16th minute. The audience was convinced that Martin Kear's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Warren Darling was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After having played for 20 minutes, Rueben Greaves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Francis House fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rueben Greaves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Francis House fc booed when Ely FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joe Trusswell didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 22 minutes, Rueben Greaves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Francis House fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rueben Greaves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Perry Hughes charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Perry Hughes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ely FC's Perry Hughes got a free kick in the 24th minute. Martin Kear recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rueben Greaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Warren Darling having to interfere. After 37 minutes, Philip Beadel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ely FC and the Francis House fc players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Rueben Greaves came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Francis House fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rueben Greaves couldn't finish the play. Martin Kear struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Warren Darling didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Francis House fc. Rueben Greaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Warren Darling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Seabourne in the 48th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rueben Greaves made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thomas Phelps in the 60th minute of play forced Francis House fc's goalkeeper Vic Moxey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 60 minutes, Carl Seabourne mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Francis House fc and the Ely FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rueben Greaves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Warren Darling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Martin Kear came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Francis House fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Kear couldn't finish the play. When Philip Beadel came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Ely FC fans jumped to their feet. In the 75th minute, Thomas Phelps made a precise shot to the right of Vic Moxey. Francis House fc's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Vic Moxey came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Ely FC's Thomas Phelps. But to his dismay, Thomas Phelps quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Philip Beadel might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vic Moxey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Philip Beadel ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 95th minute, Charlie Beverley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ely FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Francis House fc had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
