South Benfleet United's Dylan Cheswick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christopher Mahon in the 20th minute of play. Kris Inman made in the 27th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by South Benfleet United's Ed Power. Waterloo City's Will Seal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Waterloo City from getting a goal against them. Ed Power recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd minute, Pierce Ellerby hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute, Waterloo City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Blair Niven fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Waterloo City's Will Seal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Waterloo City from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pierce Ellerby during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 42nd match minute, Waterloo City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pierce Ellerby to maneuver through the defense. Blair Niven sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, South Benfleet United's Dylan Cheswick got control of the ball when Doug Butterfield tried to sneak it across the goal line. 85 minutes into the game, Pierce Ellerby recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dylan Cheswick. Pierce Ellerby showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. If Caleb Jepson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Waterloo City booed when South Benfleet United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position.
