Spectators: 5150 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Warren Townson took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Warren Townson in the 8th minute of play forced Wem AFC's goalkeeper Kelvin Wroe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicky Camfield struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Kelvin Wroe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hedge End. After a rather tough play, Wem AFC's Simeon Charles got a free kick in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Wem AFC's zone, Warren Townson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kelvin Wroe came out of the goal and Warren Townson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kelvin Wroe went to the wrong direction when Stuart Hylton was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Hedge End were furious when Shawn Tinker was red carded, 20 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 20 minutes into the game, one of Hedge End:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 23rd minute there was a penalty for Wem AFC. Simon Odell stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jake Jefferies. 1-0. Jake Jefferies made an important save on a dangerous shot by Patrick Clarkson in the 26th minute. 27 minutes into the game, Nicky Camfield was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hedge End's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wem AFC the free kick. Jake Jefferies made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Patrick Clarkson sent off a good shot on target. In the 36th minute, Ashley Commons got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Nicky Camfield came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Hedge End fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Camfield couldn't finish the play. Kelvin Wroe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Camfield in the 39th minute of play. Hedge End's Jake Jefferies played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laurence McAleer in the 40th minute of play. After having played for 42 minutes, Patrick Clarkson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wem AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrick Clarkson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nicky Camfield recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Wem AFC's Simeon Charles got a free kick in the 44th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laurence McAleer made a kick off. Jake Jefferies took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick Clarkson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ashley Commons sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the match, Hedge End's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Clarkson came free, but Jake Jefferies reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicky Camfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Kelvin Wroe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 71 minutes, Junior Albright managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wem AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Junior Albright was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ashley Commons fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kelvin Wroe having to interfere. Warren Townson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kelvin Wroe read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Laurence McAleer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wem AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 81st minute, Ashley Commons hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Bryan Howlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute.
